We at ARWNY hear a lot of sad stories and come across some cases that rattle even us who have done rescue for decades. Well we just had a case that actually chilled us to the bone. WHY? Because it involved a beautiful dog who had a wish to live and tried hard but almost did not make it! This dog tried for some time to survive, but in the end she was near death at only 46.5 pounds and barely able to stand. Luckily the ACO who found her was able to get her to safety. She was in a barn under the boards trying to have some heat on her bones -- and she was literally ALL bones. With mange, she had no coat. No weight! Nothing but her fervent wish to live!

Luckily the ACO, vet, and vet techs went to work to help Wish -- what they named her because her will to live was so strong and they wished for another chance for her. Wish needed fluids -- 5 bags right away -- as she was beyond dehydrated. Then she needed to be hand fed many times throughout the day to get her strength back. In the weeks the vet and vet techs kept her, she went to 63 pounds and was deemed healthy enough to transport to ARWNY. So she came to be fostered by our queen of fosters -- Joann and family. Joann will keep her until she is fully recovered, which will be quite some time. She needs treatment for Lyme as soon as her weight is sufficient so the antibiotics do not cause stomach distress. Her bills will continue to mount. The vets have stated this was strictly a starvation and dehydration case and that Wish was near death. So we are having this auction to assist with her care -- to show Wish we DO care and we at ARWNY and all our supporters will show her people care enough about her to make her whole and well again.

So in Wish's honor we are having ANOTHER no reserve auction. Bid often -- bid from your heart -- and show Wish we care. Show her a happy Valentine's Day.
