The FORCE wasn't with our Jedhi, back he is with us after his adopter started to travel too much with her job!  So now, let us all unite to use The FORCE to get him a permanent home this time!!  This big, gorgeous boy is a perfect housedog -- knows all his commands, doesn't get up on furniture, is mellow and calm with a great sense of humor and playfulness added in!! Jenn & Kathy were ready to adopt him but then he found a home so they took in Nique and they feel terrible that Jedhi is back sitting in a kennel again!! ELLA
This smile is for saving me!!!!!

Ella found herself in a kill shelter after she was picked up at a NJ Elementary School playground. A teacher noticed one of the  children trying to feed Ella part of his lunch and called animal control. Ella did not fuss -- she happily jumped in the truck for a ride to the shelter. Ella is estimated to be about 7 years old, she is spayed and up to date on her shots, HW negative and fecal clear.   From what we can see, Ella has had a hard life. A lack of nutrition and being constantly bred has made her look older than what she is. Ella has lost most of her ear tips due to heavy fly strike, however, she remains loving and sweet. This is a very big boned girl who is 90 pounds and very thin. She could use at least 15 to 20 pounds as she is very heavy boned and a large frame. Ella will be going to our vets to be examined and once that is done we will update all of Ella's new info. Ella loves everyone she meets -- she sits, gives paw, and listens very well. BUT she is selective about sharing her home with another male dog. Adopting an older pet has so many benefits! They are calm, mild, and you don't have to worry about things like housebreaking, or go through the potty training thing. You get all of the love without all of the work. YOSHI
This tongue was made for kissing!!!

Yoshi is simply gorgeous; a stunning female Akita who is a very young 5 yrs old. Raised in the same loving household as our Max (see his write up), Yoshi has been lovingly treated and it shows -- she is a gentle, sweet girl with a lovely face and a beautiful dark glowing coat. When Yoshi walked through my kennel door a year ago to meet the "boys" we had, I remember thinking she was one of the most gorgeous girls I had ever met. She still is but now she needs to lose a few pounds (don't we all, really?) and she will make a fabulous companion for a nice couple seeking a sweet and mellow female. Yoshi is healthy, outgoing and well-behaved, completely housebroken, loves to ride in a car or take long walks.  She is calm around other dogs but has not lived with cats, so should not go to a home with them. Yoshi will be a wonderful pet for the right home, so why not come meet her and see how gorgeous she is in person?

This large, powerful boy is a gorgeous "real" Akita so was named Thor for the Greek God he acts like! Thor has a calm, confident demeanor and is the perfect housedog for an adult household who understands this breed. This approx. 5-6 year old was found as a stray in NY so we have no history on Thor other than knowing he needs to be given time to adjust to trust his new home but once he trusts you a more devoted loving Akita you won't find. Thor cannot go to a household with children or other pets, but would be the perfect boy for a couple or single person who wants the intelligence & confidence this breed is known for. BELLE
I REALLY need your love!!!!!

Meet our lovely Belle, the most genteel lady you will ever meet!  Like a Belle of the Ole' South, our Belle is dignified, courteous and sweet.  We can picture her on a veranda of some gorgeous southern Mansion but alas, she ended up in a shelter in Phila, scared to death, curled up in a ball in the corner, terrified of the raucous noise around her, wondering what she did to deserve this!  Belle is approx 6 yrs young, with a nice spring to her walk and a loving sweet expression on her face; this is a well-bred dog with great character and intelligence.  We believe her to be Hoshi's mother, as they came in at the same time and have the same white marking on the back of their red necks.  Belle seems to do well with nice male dogs, is well-behaved around older kids and while we haven't yet seen her with children, we feel she deserves the attention for herself instead of having to share it with toddlers!  Belle is healthy, will be spayed before leaving, is HW/Lymes negative and will be a wonderful loving companion for the right lucky home! BAY BAY
Kisses for everyone!!!!!

ARWNY was begged to take on this case of an "Akita" in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland that has been chained outside for the last several years of his life along with 2 female dogs. His ears were being eaten by maggots. We were assured by the ACO and a shelter worker that he was a purebred, and his nickname was BayBay. Well that's all ARWNY needed to hear -- since "BaeBae" is the name of Kathy & Jenn's old boy, all of ARWNY wanted to help save this poor soul from life on a chain with the similar name. Once the owner surrendered him, we drove down to get him with the help of Lynn from DOGS DESERVE BETTER and found a sweet Collie/Akita mix instead of the purebred Akita we thought we were getting! But there was no doubt in our minds we had to take him in because his personality is SO sweet! He is of course, mildly nervous of things right now but even when nervous, all he does is kiss us, want to lean on us and want to be loved! BayBay was a hit at my vet's office, where he was found to be Heartworm & Lyme positive. Yet despite all the bloodwork done, all he did was kiss and lean into my vet and techs there for some loving. He was aged at approx. 5 yrs. and needs to be treated for the HW and then neutered. But we feel he has been a house dog at some point -- he will NOT mess in his run, he waits to be taken out in the mornings and he isn't afraid of noises or walking thru doorways. He rides like a champ in the car, and so far has shown no interest in other dogs. We need to raise the money to treat his HW and get him neutered, and then he will need a fabulous foster home or permanent home willing to raise his trust levels again -- showing him that he will never be chained outside again, but will instead become a beloved house pet with love 24/7!!! This handsome middle-aged gent has a fabulous temperament despite humans constantly letting him down! ANGEL KITTY
Will you give me a home???

Angel Kitty is just one of those special Akitas that the second you meet her, she creeps into your heart and you cannot let go. This girl wants nothing more than to lay by your feet and know she is home. She is so sweet and well behaved. Found as a stray and not smelling very nice, she must have been an indoor dog at some point. She is just too well behaved and clean in her run. Angel Kitty knows sit and some basic commands. She walks beautifully on the leash, was perfect at the vet while a bunch of strangers held her and drew blood and other "indignities" while checking her thoroughly. She was just the perfect patient. She appears to be fine with calm dogs and and ignored the kennel cats. Can I tell you how much everyone who meets her loves her? INSTANTANEOUS! She is just charismatic and captivating!! What a sweet, sweet lover! If you want an easy transitioning companion, Angel Kitty is sure to fulfill your wishes. I doubt she will be around long with her temperament. We recommend no children under 12 as being a stray we just do not know background and honestly I would love to see her as an only dog just because I want all the attention on her! YOGI
All I need is YOU!!

Yogi is a gorgeous 4 yr old male Akita who has lived with kids, an older female Akita, cats and has a great disposition!  Yogi lost his home due to his deciding the 4 cats in his home were fair game about a year ago so he must go to a home with no cats.  He also would do best with no other dog so he can have his family all to himself for a change, something he would like.  Yogi is great with kids (no toddlers due to his size), is crate trained and housebroken, walks well on a leash and has basic training.  He is a good sized boy, needs a very securely fenced in yard because he can go over a smaller fence.  He is heartworm negative, up to date on shots, and fecal clear. We love his personality, he is a sweetheart, a "leaner" and one that will bond to his new family really well!  If you'd like to consider Yogi, he is ready to find that forever home now so please come meet him! SUGAR
COME ON -- lets go home!!

Sugar was surrendered to a NY shelter along with 2 other dogs due to a landlord situation.  She is one of the prettiest female Akitas you will see, with a thick lush red coat, a great Akita build and a silly wag to her butt that shows everyone how sweet and happy she is all the time!  Sugar's name fits her, as she is wonderful with every male Akita she has met, with humans of all ages also but due to her size and strength, should go to a home with older kids only!  She has had some training, as she knows her basic commands and walks well on a leash and she loves to play -- her silliness sometimes overtakes her and she runs around in circles and plays with toys with great abandon.  Sugar also loves car rides and her outgoing personality is a true joy to behold!!  Sugar is thought to be between 4-5 yrs old although she acts and plays like a puppy; and she is now spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.  Sugar would be a loving companion to your household so won't you consider her? KEIGO
Hey lets go and play!!!!!

OK, why is the wonderful male Akita still sitting in rescue? Keigo is only about 2 yrs old and on the smaller side; he adores adults and kids over the age of 10, he is housebroken, knows some commands and is healthy!! Keigo lost his home due to the economy, not for any other reason. This handsome boy deserves a forever home now. Keigo is picky about the female dogs he has met but might do well with the right submissive female dog. However he would also be happy to have all the attention for himself and he will chase a cat for fun so no cats. This loving boy has been a joy to have at the kennel but he's been pining for his own home for some time. Won't you give this handsome boy a chance -- he will be a loyal and loving companion for all his days!!
