NATIONALS RAFFLE DRAWING  2007

MANY MANY MANY Thanks to all who participated and made this raffle such a success for the ARWNY dogs!! To our kind donors who sent these fabulous items -- we remain indebted!! To all who purchased tickets knowing the cause was good, we THANK YOU ALL.  We at ARWNY are so fortunate you all help us always to help these wonderful creatures who need us all. THANK YOU and congratulations to the winners -- which you all are in our book because you care enough to help the dogs!

This has been a tough year for ARWNY. We have been INUNDATED beyond normal with dogs turning away over 13 dogs a week and many YOUNG,  and well just too many dogs -- many with special needs. We have worked with blind dogs, immune deficient dogs, orthopedic problems, have closed down several backyard breeders, continue on our mission to stop as many puppymills as we can, and are faced with over 22 dogs in our care with mounting bills for much needed vet care and boarding. This is our second biggest fundraiser of the year. We again plead for your help! Buying just a few tickets may get you a great prize -- but the best prize will be knowing you helped in your own special way to save some Akitas in desperate need -- an Akita like our Niko who at the age of 9 years was dropped at a shelter where he became depressed and virtually gave up -- and why -- because the family got a new Lab puppy!

But we need financial support to help with all these efforts! These Akitas and many others were able to be saved all because you cared enough to buy a few tickets and send in what you could! We thank you!!

Item 13 - Japan Vintage Ceramic Plate Akita Dogs Playing w/Kannon: This piece measures 12" in diameter. It is a Tokoname kiln piece with the raised image of Kannon in the center and 5 Akita dogs surrounding him. In the arena of Buddhist piety, no other Buddha worshipped by as many people as is Kanzeon (Kannon) Bosatsu. As indicated by his name, Kanzeon Bosatsu is the Bodhisattva Who Perceives the Sounds of the World. He made a vow to hear the voices of people and the sounds of the condition of the world and immediately grant salvation to the suffering and the afflicted, and dispel the evil and calamities that surround us.

The dogs' happiness and utmost joy being with Kannon is well expressed by their almost giddy jumping motion as the only way the dogs know how to express their sense of adoration and worship. This is a special commissioned piece designed by the artist, Yamaguchi Yoshio and manufactured by Senkoen kiln in Tokoname City of Aichi Prefecture of Japan. The piece's rich amber color is natural from the iron mineral rich clay that Tokoname is known. The condition of the plate is very good and it comes with its own wooden box. The cover of the box reads "Tokoname piece, by Yamaguchi Yoshio, Zodiac Animal, Dog decorative plate, by Senkoen." The age of this piece is from the 1970s sometime in the Year of the Dog.
